Ceiling trends consumers need to try now

St. Modwen Homes encourages homeowners to look up

Ceilings are an often-overlooked aspect of home interiors but any good designer will tell you the finishing touches give a room the wow factor

Wallpaper, but on the ceiling

Ceilings usually come in traditional, plain colours — white is mainly used to brighten up spaces, reflect light, and not draw attention away from the rest of your home décor. But a new trend suggests that homeowners want to enjoy more than just four walls and a floor.

Google searches for ‘ceiling paper’ have never been higher. In fact, in 2022, searches are 16 per cent up on their five-year average.

Popular images for ‘ceiling trends’ on Pinterest include regency-style patterns and fauna decoration, and splashes of texture and colour to the space above our heads.

The statement decoration should be completed with an ornate light feature to match. A pendant light or chandelier centres the space and brings focus to a new decorative ceiling.

Coloured coving

Rooms with lighter wall and ceiling colours can help brighten up spaces but there are still ways to add interesting colours and focus to a room.

Coving is an essential barrier between the ceiling and the walls, adding extra detail to the interior. While some may opt for coving that matches the walls or ceilings, choosing a coving colour that contrasts both is interesting, bold, and a certain talking point for any guests.
