CLASSIC DESIGN PROJECT OVER £25,000/€30,000

WINNER - JASON CANAVAN
CANAVAN INTERIORS

This award honours a kitchen designer that works within an Irish kitchen studio, who has created a classic/traditional kitchen design in the past two years that exceeds a £25,000/€30,000 budget including appliances. The kitchen will fulfill the client’s requirements and lifestyle in terms of practicality and design. The designer will be able to demonstrate how and why they choose the materials and appliances and will outline any innovative solutions or modifications they may have used to create their final design. The designer will also be able to explain how they overcame any problems and show a breakdown of how they managed their budget.

JUDGES COMMENT
In top end classic kitchens where often more is more it is refreshing to see such understated beauty. The designer has used a limited palate of materials to create a subtle elegance in keeping with the Architecture of the house with a sprinkling of North Down Glamour! Located in a difficult landlocked corner space the designer has logically resolved the flow issues and created a feature curved island which unifies the elements and provides an inviting perch to survey the space. The curve also cleverly connects the living and dining spaces to the kitchen and is a focal point in the room. The main bank of tall units are large but are recessed into the wall and are not over bearing . The doors are plain in light tones with simple chrome handles but are perfectly proportioned . There is nothing dramatic about this kitchen but it is understated luxury at its very finest.
